Plan to Attend Mooreland's
Work Weekend
September 24th to 26th, 2010! (photos)
A major element of our support for
Mooreland's Community Services is our annual work weekend at Moorelands
camp near Dorset. The weekend is a joint effort with parishioners
from St. John’s, St Timothy’s and Grace Church On-the-Hill. Held
annually in mid-September, we meet at the camp and provide assistance
in preparing the property for winter.
The camp provides an exciting and refreshing
summer holiday for almost 600 needy Toronto children each summer.
See www.moorelands.org for more details.
Every year our families, youth and friends
assist with clean-up, maintenance and other “odd jobs”.
We sleep Friday and Saturday nights in the
campers’ cabins, take our meals in the award winning designed
dining hall. All day Saturday and for a couple of hours on Sunday
we have great fun doing ‘roll-up-your-sleeves’ outreach such as
planting, painting, cleaning, carrying, organizing, laughing and
chatting with friends new and old
It is a wonderful opportunity to become involved in a meaningful
way, meet like-minded people, and serve the children who are the
focus of Moorelands.
Families and singles, and all ages are welcome.
You don’t have to be very handy to do some of the chores and this
is a chance for fellowship, a way to help others and a weekend
at a very beautiful summer camp! There is a nominal charge of
approximately per person of about $50 for food and we usually
car pool, so a ride is available if you need it!
Plan
to come along this September!
